5Does what it should
By Charles Nichols
I have this exact same model under the name Emerson MoistAIR with a model number of MA08000 that we got from Lowe's about three months ago. It holds one gallon of water and does a great job in our open floor plan, about 500 + square feet or so minus one room down a hall I haven't monitored. It displays the humidity level and kicks on when needed. The unit is very quiet to the point that I don't even notice it when I am reading.

The colder it gets, the more the heater runs, the more I fill it, but it isn't using up the water at a rate that is bothersome or wasteful. The only thing bad I have to say is it's big and not the nicest looking thing in a small living space, but we only need it in the winter so I can live with it. If you have the room to hide it in a corner it's a solid mid size humidifier.

5Get One NOW!!!
By J. Ross
My wife was having bad sinus problems and her MD recommended getting a humidifier. We purchased this one at Lowe's and have now had it for 4-5 years. Within about a month after purchasing this and placing it near our return air vent, as recommended, in our 1500 sq. ft home, my wife's sinus problems were resolved. I actually can't believe how much better I can breathe in the mornings when I wake up with this thing running vs. when it's not running. We now live in a 1800 sq. ft. home and it still serves our purposes well. It goes through about 1 tankfull of water per day during the cold days when the heat is running. I just fill it before bed each night. It is very quiet. We keep it in our bedroom beside the return air vent (right beside the bed)on the low setting and most of the time don't even realize it's running. I also purchase Holmes Bacteriostat and add about an ounce each time I fill the unit, which keeps the unit clean and never allows any bacterial growth (which ruins your filter). I only have to purchase about 1 filter and 1 bottle of bacteriostat per year. I recommend this item regularly to friends, family, and my own patients.

I know there is a bad review out there on it as well as some other good ones but this has been one of the best investments I have ever made! For your health...for your family's health...Get one!

3Keeps humidity up, pad breeds mold
By A.D.
We have the EssickAir Moist Air MA 1201. However, the pic looks the same as this one. This is the 3rd year we have had it.

Pros:

It keeps the humidity up really well in our 1200 square foot home, especially if it is placed near the return air vent.

With the humidity up, we notice less nose bleeds, dry skin, sinus problems, and bronchial problems in the winter, which we had noticed before.

It has different humidity settings and different noise levels. The quietest setting is barely noticeable, and sounds like a soothing "white noise."

Cons:

It is HUGE. I'm glad we only need it out during the winter months, because it takes up a lot of space, IMO.

The pad, especially this year (our 3rd year) keeps getting moldy! My husband is Type A, Obsessive Compulsive about keeping this maintained, as he is in the Heating & Air industry and is both knowledgeable and mindful of humidifiers. He cleans it tho roughly, per directions, before the first use, and puts a new pad in it. Usually we start running it in late October. It is December now and we have bought THREE pads already this year. One pad should last at least for the few months we use it each year.
